Art, history, the Bible… Musings of a Christian woman.

another cemetery pic.

This is another picture from the walk to the cemetery that Rick and I took.

I was playing around with different pics in photoshop to see what my different actions would to to them. I ran my warm blk & wht action on this…as long with some other tinkering around. And this is the image i came up with.

Cemetery Contrast

There was something I like about this image, before I even changed it to blk and wht. I found the enormity of the monument and the tree in contrast to the relatively small person quite striking.

After running the action, I noticed a striking difference: the right side, with the figure or the side of life was quite dark compared to the left side, or the side of death. In most people’s minds that would be reversed. But Christ offers us a look at it in this perspective. This world that we live in is dead. But through death we are able to enter heaven.

I also find the gaze of the figure’s into the bright side, and his stance: somewhat hesitant to go forward, and yet, not content to remain there, to cause the picture to feel as though it is the pivoltal point…is he ready to accept that other life, or not?

I never would have looked at it like that, Ali. The picture is great, but being able to see so much meaning in it is quite a bit more spectacular. :)
