The Big Game

January 22nd, 2007 · 11 Comments

Brian UrlacherSo while Rick and I were watching the Colts/Patriots game last night (yes, that’s right, push your eyes back in your head and pull your chin up off the floor), Rick turned to me and said, “when did I become a football fan?” He’s by no means “hardcore” but he does seem to be more interested in the sport. I even heard a few “oh man, he should have had that”’s as someone on the Colts team missed a pass.

I must say that the Colts game was definitely interesting. I was fully not expecting them to win when they were so far behind. They definitely kept everyone on the edge of their seat. And like the other Indianapolis-based photography blogs that I read (Jess and Bobbi) I have posted about the exciting games over the weekend. However, unlike those two (and Rick) I won’t be rootin’ for the Colts.

In all technicality, I’m not rootin’ for anyone. I’m still halfway convinced it’s all planned, right along with any other reality television. (And today I found out I’m not the only one who’s crazy, too.)

It’s simply nice to be able to relate to others at work. I don’t have to care about sports to care about people, I guess. And if I lived in an area filled with Bears (or Patriots or Cowboys or Packers or whoever else) fans, that’s what I’d be, in all likelihood.

I never claimed to make sense, but I suppose that’s what I get for splitting my attention between a Colts game and one of the best books about Jesus Christ I have had the privilege to read.

Well, if Rick is watching football, it’s a good thing in my book. Even if he is rooting for the Colts.

Of course, I’ll be rooting for the Colts in two weeks!

And apparently “football” is the magic subject that brings Dad out of the woodwork here. :P

I suppose it’s better than pictures of cheese. I’m sure most people would rather look at Urlacher with “white ghost dots.”

Ha ha. It didn’t look like snow in the picture, ‘kay? :)

“And apparently “footballâ€? is the magic subject that brings Dad out of the woodwork here.”

    :)

Now you just need to discover I.U. Basketball and Cubs baseball.

    Hey! I can dream!

Well, make sure to have us over for games & dinner sometime when a game is on, and I’ll let it become associated with fun times, as a football game was a couple of weeks ago.

I’ll see what I can do.

Somehow, I had a feeling you would. :)

Football will almost always bring out dad’s. I will be pulling for the BEARS. I’ll also be pulling for IU tonight. And the Cub’s in the spring.
