So How’s Life?

January 26th, 2007 · No Comments

So nothing much has been happening on my blog (except the post bringing a whopping 11 comments). This is partly do to the fact that I’m currently sick and would rather be in bed, secondly it is partly due to the fact that it is really cold outside so trips around town for pictures aren’t as alluring, and lastly it is partly due to the fact that the couple classes that I am taking this semester are quite intensive, and I find myself spending every spare moment reading.

Specifically, my Religion and Fantasy class is the most reading intensive. But, it’s also the class I’m enjoying the most, so I’m not so insanely bothered by having to read all the time (just wish these other classes would quite getting in the way). The first book we read was The Gospel according to Tolkien by Ralph Wood. It was a good read, and I got an A+ on the paper I wrote for it. Next we read The Hobbit by Tolkien. And sorry to big Tolkien fans, but I find his books quite boring, and this one was no exception. Once I finish I look back and think, “that was a good story.” And, as I’m reading I recognize how well written it is, and am often amazed at his understanding of language. But I still find it difficult to push through a chapter. Though I will say the chapter “Riddles in the Dark” was wonderful! Our current read is A Case of Conscience by James Blish, I’m only about three pages into this and already I’m realizing that it was definitely written by a scientist. Most of the lingo he uses goes right over my head, and I find myself feeling like a six-year-old slowly trying to phonetically pronounce these long scientific words.Speaking of which, I should probably get back to reading.
